The Second Reflection
Two mirrors
When you take the first glance into a mirror, the first things you see are the obvious ones, your face, the expression and most of us tend to be self-critical, which is not what self-reflection should be about. But when you stare into the mirror a little while longer, you stop seeing your face, you look beyond the expression and you can leave the self-criticism behind. Then you can start seeing your habits, your feelings and you can reflect upon your being with honesty.
The first reflection is how you look, the second is how you are.
The second reflection starts when you let go of self-approval and search instead for alignment, between what you say and do, what you intended to say and do, and what others experience you did say and do. That’s where self-management is born.
